System Upgrades & Internet Connection

As well as complete new systems, we offer an upgrade service to fit your existing PC with new hardware or peripherals.

We offer advice on software upgrades and can install them on-site.

We can upgrade your system either in conjunction with our web site design and development services or as a separate service.

Memory | Hard Disks | Backup | Printers | Modems

All upgrades are done on-site, so your machine need not be sent away - ensuring minimum down time. If required, we will also provide training in the use of your new hardware or software.

Please note that because of this, the upgrade service is only available to customers within our local area of the UK - East Dorset / West Hampshire / South Wiltshire. We do not offer upgrades on a 'supply only' basis - to order direct, please visit the peripheral shop.

Memory

More is always better! Fitting additional memory can enhance your machine's performance at a very low cost.

For a modern PC running Windows XP, we recommend as a minimum:

• 512 MB for light home use
• 1024 MB for average business use

For Windows Vista™

The 'Home Basic' edition requires at least 512MB of RAM, other editions require a minimum of 1GB.

We suggest installing 1GB for the Home Basic edition and at least 2GB for other editions, though the Home Premium edition does seem to run reasonably well on 1GB.

'Power' users will require even more!

We work with one of the country's leading memory suppliers to identify the correct part for your machine.

Memory Upgrades

Memory upgrades for Acer, Dell, Compaq / HP, eMachines, Fujitsu-Siemens, Gateway, Packard Bell, Toshiba etc. (self install) are available from our store

Hard Disks

If you are running out of space, fitting a new disk can extend your computer's life. More modern disks are also faster, and so will increase the performance of your machine. If your disk becomes over 75% full, we recommend upgrading.

Backups

The data on your machine is more valuable than the hardware, so an appropriate strategy for backups is important to you and your business. We will help you determine the most appropriate backup strategy and choose the right hardware and software to suit.

Printers

Is your old printer is worn out, slow, or just not good enough for your needs? Whether you need an inkjet or laser printer, we can help you choose the right model and install it for you. For a complete solution to all your printing and scanning needs, why not consider an all-in-one printer? For local domestic users, we also have a cartridge supply service - please call for details.

Manufacturers original inkjet cartridges for Canon, Dell, Epson, HP and Lexmark printers are available from our store.

Modems / Internet

In order to connect to the Internet, you will need to fit a modem. Upgrading to a faster modem can also improve the speed of your Internet connection. We can supply and fit either internal or external devices.
